Job Brief
The Lobster Catcher is responsible for the effective harvesting of lobsters and other aquatic animals using various fishing techniques and equipment. Responsibilities
- Utilize nets, traps, and other fishing equipment to catch lobsters and other aquatic species.
- Inspect and maintain fishing gear and equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
- Monitor environmental conditions and adjust fishing strategies accordingly.
- Safely haul and transport catch onto vessels, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- Document daily catch and report findings to relevant authorities as needed.
- Adhere to local and federal regulations regarding fishing quotas and practices.
- Participate in the maintenance of boats and fishing gear to promote longevity and safety.
- Collaborate with team members to maximize efficiency during catch operations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; experience in commercial fishing or aquaculture preferred.
- Knowledge of marine biology and aquatic ecosystems is a plus.
- Valid boating license and experience operating fishing vessels.
- Physical stamina and the ability to work long hours in various weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to sustainable fishing practices.
