Job Brief
The Line Haul Driver is responsible for operating a tractor-trailer combination or heavy-duty truck (over 26,001 pounds GVW) for the transportation of goods across long distances. This role requires a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) and a strong understanding of safety regulations and transportation logistics. Successful candidates will demonstrate excellent driving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage delivery schedules efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Operate and drive a tractor-trailer combination or heavy truck safely and efficiently.
- Transport freight across designated routes while adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, mileage, and fuel consumption in accordance with DOT regulations.
- Unload cargo, when necessary, ensuring proper handling and secure delivery of goods.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and other team members to coordinate deliveries.
- Manage delivery schedules to meet deadlines and optimize route efficiency.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures regarding safety and operational efficiency.
Requirements
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience driving a tractor-trailer or heavy truck.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state transportation regulations.
- Ability to perform vehicle inspections and basic maintenance tasks.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy loads safely.
- Familiarity with GPS navigation and route planning tools.
