Job Brief
As a Light Rail Signal Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of electric gate crossings, signals, signal equipment, track switches, section lines, and intercommunication systems within a railroad system. Responsibilities
- Install and configure light rail signaling systems, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Conduct regular inspections and tests on signal equipment, electric gate crossings, and track switches to ensure operational efficiency.
- Perform maintenance and repairs on signaling systems to minimize downtime and enhance reliability.
- Diagnose electrical and mechanical issues in signal equipment and develop effective solutions.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to improve signaling processes and safety protocols.
- Document all maintenance activities and inspections in compliance with industry standards.
- Provide training and support to junior technicians and operational staff on signaling systems.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in electrical systems or related fields preferred.
- Proven experience as a Signal Technician or in a similar role within the transportation or rail industry.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, signal equipment, and safety regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Proficient in troubleshooting electrical issues and performing repairs on signal systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in technical work.
- Valid driver’s license; ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
