Job Brief
We are seeking a skilled Licensed Optician to join our team, responsible for designing, measuring, fitting, and adapting lenses and frames according to optical prescriptions. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge in opticianry, demonstrate excellent customer service skills, and have a passion for helping clients achieve optimal vision. Previous experience in the optical field and the ability to assist clients with contact lenses and frame selection are essential.
Responsibilities
- Design, measure, fit, and adapt lenses and frames based on clients’ optical prescriptions.
- Assist clients with inserting, removing, and caring for contact lenses.
- Guide clients in selecting the appropriate frames that complement their facial and eye measurements.
- Measure customers to determine the correct size for eyeglasses, ensuring a perfect fit.
- Prepare work orders for the optical laboratory, detailing instructions for grinding and mounting lenses in frames.
- Verify the exactness of finished spectacles, ensuring quality and accuracy.
- Adjust frame and lens positions for optimal fit and comfort.
- Shape or reshape frames as needed to meet customer preferences.
Requirements
- Valid optician’s license in accordance with state or provincial regulations.
- Proven experience as a Licensed Optician or in a similar role within the optical industry.
- Strong knowledge of optical products, lens types, and fitting techniques.
- Ability to interpret and understand optical prescriptions.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with optical laboratory processes and equipment.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in using optical dispensing software and tools.
