Job Brief
As a Licensed Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), you will play a crucial role in supporting occupational therapists in delivering effective occupational therapy treatments and procedures. This position involves assisting in the development of treatment plans, carrying out routine therapeutic functions, directing activity programs, and documenting patient progress. Responsibilities
- Assist occupational therapists in implementing individualized treatment plans for patients.
- Conduct routine therapy sessions under the supervision of a licensed occupational therapist.
- Monitor patients’ progress and document changes in their condition and response to treatment.
- Support patients in engaging in daily living activities to promote independence.
- Facilitate group therapy sessions and activity programs to enhance social skills and engagement.
- Educate patients and their families on treatment protocols and home exercises.
- Maintain a safe and organized therapy environment, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient care and outcomes.
Requirements
- Current state licensure as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
- Associate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
- Proficient in therapeutic techniques and modalities relevant to occupational therapy.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Experience in patient documentation and familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a healthcare team.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to assist patients in mobility and activities.
- Basic life support (BLS) certification may be required.
