Job Brief
As a Lens Grinder, you will be responsible for cutting, grinding, and polishing eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other precision optical elements. This role requires a keen eye for detail and technical expertise in assembling and mounting lenses into frames, ensuring optimal quality and precision. Ideal candidates will possess experience in lens polishing, grinding, and the operation of lens edging machinery. Responsibilities
- Operate lens grinding machines and equipment to shape and polish optical lenses according to specifications.
- Cut and edge lenses using precision tools to ensure accuracy in dimensions and curvature.
- Inspect finished lenses for quality assurance and compliance with industry standards.
- Assemble and mount lenses into frames, ensuring proper alignment and fit.
- Maintain and calibrate grinding and polishing equipment for optimal performance.
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
- Collaborate with opticians and other team members to meet production goals and deadlines.
- Document production processes and maintain accurate records of work performed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in optical technology preferred.
- Proven experience in lens grinding or polishing in a manufacturing or optical setting.
- Familiarity with lens grinding and edging machinery, including centerer-edgers and lens mounters.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to perform precise measurements and adjustments.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in an optical manufacturing environment.
