Job Brief

The Leather Worker is responsible for constructing, decorating, and repairing a variety of leather and leather-like products, including luggage, shoes, and saddles. This role requires proficiency with hand tools and a keen eye for detail to ensure high-quality craftsmanship. Ideal candidates will possess experience in leatherworking techniques, a strong understanding of materials, and the ability to follow design specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Construct and assemble leather products using hand tools and machinery.
  • Repair and restore damaged leather items to meet quality standards.
  • Decorate leather goods through stamping, dyeing, and stitching techniques.
  • Measure, cut, and sew leather according to design specifications.
  • Inspect finished products for quality assurance and durability.
  • Maintain tools and equipment to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with designers to create custom leather products.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in leatherworking technology.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Leather Worker or similar role in leather craftsmanship.
  • Strong knowledge of leather types, tools, and techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret design specifications and technical drawings.
  • Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity.
  • Familiarity with sewing machines and hand tools specific to leatherwork.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in leatherworking is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
