Job Brief
The Lead Sewage Plant Operator oversees the operation and management of wastewater treatment facilities. This pivotal role involves controlling systems and machinery to ensure efficient treatment and transfer of water and wastewater. The ideal candidate possesses comprehensive knowledge of water treatment processes, strong leadership skills, and at least 5 years of relevant experience in the wastewater industry. Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor sewage treatment plant equipment and machinery, ensuring optimal performance and compliance.
- Control and manage the entire wastewater treatment process, utilizing control boards and automated systems.
- Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of plant operations, troubleshooting any mechanical or process issues.
- Supervise and train junior operators and staff, promoting adherence to safety and operational protocols.
- Maintain accurate records of operational data and submit reports to management as required.
- Implement and oversee wastewater sampling and testing procedures to ensure quality control.
- Collaborate with environmental agencies to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Participate in emergency response planning and procedures related to wastewater management.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or higher in environmental science or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in wastewater treatment or a similar role.
- State-issued certification as a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator is required.
- Strong understanding of fluid dynamics, chemical processes, and environmental regulations.
- Proficiency in using SCADA systems and other monitoring technologies.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a team environment and lead effectively under pressure.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
