The Latin American Studies Professor is responsible for delivering engaging and comprehensive courses focused on the culture, history, and development of Latin America. Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver curriculum for undergraduate and graduate-level courses in Latin American studies, including cultural, political, and social issues.
- Conduct original research in the field of Latin American studies, contributing to academic journals and conferences.
- Advise and mentor students on academic and career development related to Latin American topics.
- Engage in community outreach and collaboration with local organizations to promote Latin American culture and studies.
- Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum development, and accreditation processes.
- Stay current with developments in Latin American studies and incorporate contemporary issues into course materials.
- Utilize various teaching methodologies and technologies to enhance student learning and engagement.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Latin American Studies, Cultural Studies, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience teaching at the college level with a focus on Latin American topics.
- Strong research portfolio with publications in peer-reviewed journals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster a collaborative learning environment.
- Proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese is preferred.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education.
- Experience with online teaching platforms and educational technology is a plus.
