Job Brief

As a Language Pathologist, you will assess and treat individuals with speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders, contributing to their communication and quality of life. This role requires a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology and relevant clinical experience. Key skills include strong analytical abilities, effective communication, and empathy, as you develop tailored treatment plans and possibly select alternative communication systems for patient use.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of speech and language abilities in patients of all ages.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to address communication disorders.
  • Utilize evidence-based practices and current research to inform treatment methodologies.
  • Teach patients and families how to use alternative communication systems when necessary.
  • Monitor and document patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as required.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including educators and healthcare professionals, to support patient needs.
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding speech and language disorders.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and stay updated on advancements in speech-language pathology.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Current state licensure and certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience in a healthcare or educational setting.
  • Strong knowledge of speech and language assessment tools and intervention strategies.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and documentation standards.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuing education.
