Job Brief
As a Kennel Worker, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of various animals, including dogs, cats, and other non-consumable pets. This position requires hands-on experience in animal care, grooming, and maintaining clean environments while promoting animal welfare. Ideal candidates will possess a passion for animals, strong communication skills, and the ability to work in fast-paced environments. Previous experience in animal handling or care is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, watering, and administering medications as needed.
- Groom and bathe animals to ensure cleanliness and comfort.
- Exercise animals regularly to promote physical health and well-being.
- Maintain cleanliness of kennels, cages, and animal living areas by cleaning and disinfecting facilities.
- Monitor animal behavior and health, reporting any concerns to supervisors or veterinary staff.
- Record details of animal feedings, treatments, and any observations in care logs.
- Assist with the intake and discharge of animals, ensuring proper documentation and care instructions.
- Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation regulations within the facility.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in animal care or handling is a plus.
- Previous experience in a kennel, animal shelter, or similar environment is preferred.
- Strong understanding of animal behavior and basic animal care practices.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting and handling animals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interaction with team members and pet owners.
- Basic knowledge of record-keeping and administrative tasks related to animal care.
- Certification in pet first aid or CPR is an advantage.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
