Job Brief
As a Juvenile Probation Officer, you will play a crucial role in the rehabilitation of youth offenders, providing social services and support to individuals in custody or on probation or parole. Your primary responsibilities will include assessing the needs of juvenile offenders, formulating rehabilitation plans, and making recommendations for educational and employment stipulations. The ideal candidate will have experience in social work or criminal justice, along with strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with youth and their families.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of juvenile offenders to identify rehabilitation needs and risks.
- Develop and implement individualized rehabilitation plans aimed at promoting positive behavior change.
- Monitor compliance with probation conditions and provide ongoing support to youth and their families.
- Collaborate with schools, community organizations, and other stakeholders to facilitate educational and vocational opportunities.
- Prepare and present detailed reports and recommendations for court hearings regarding the progress of youth offenders.
- Provide crisis intervention and conflict resolution services as needed to ensure the safety and well-being of youth.
- Maintain accurate case records and documentation in compliance with agency policies and legal requirements.
- Stay informed about trends in juvenile justice and best practices in rehabilitation and treatment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, Psychology, or a related field.
- Prior experience working with youth in a social services or criminal justice setting.
- Strong knowledge of juvenile justice systems and rehabilitation strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse populations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficient in case management software and documentation practices.
- Current certification in CPR and First Aid is preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel as required.
