Job Brief
As a Jig Bore Tool Maker, you will be responsible for analyzing specifications, laying out metal stock, and operating machine tools to fabricate and repair precision tools and components. This role requires a high level of craftsmanship, attention to detail, and expertise in fitting and assembling parts to create dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and machinists’ hand tools. Ideal candidates will possess strong technical skills and a solid understanding of machining processes, including CNC programming and manual machining techniques.
Responsibilities
- Analyze specifications and blueprints to determine machining requirements for tool and fixture production.
- Lay out metal stock according to established specifications and measurements.
- Set up and operate machine tools, including jig borers, CNC machines, lathes, and mills.
- Fabricate, repair, and modify dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, and gauges with precision.
- Fit and assemble parts to ensure proper functionality and adherence to specifications.
- Perform quality control inspections and tests to ensure accuracy and precision of manufactured tools.
- Maintain and troubleshoot machine tools to maximize operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to improve designs and tool performance.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Tool Maker or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of machining processes, including CNC programming and manual machining.
- Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints accurately.
- Familiarity with safety protocols and best practices in machining operations.
- High school diploma; additional technical certifications or vocational training is preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
