Job Brief
The Jewelsmith is responsible for designing, fabricating, adjusting, repairing, and appraising high-quality jewelry made from gold, silver, and other precious materials. This role requires proficiency in working with gems, including diamond polishing and gem cutting, alongside expertise in precision casting and modeling for jewelry production. Responsibilities
- Design and create custom jewelry pieces according to client preferences and specifications.
- Fabricate jewelry components using various techniques, including soldering, stone setting, and polishing.
- Conduct repairs and adjustments on existing jewelry, ensuring quality and precision in all work.
- Appraise gemstones and precious metals to determine value and authenticity.
- Utilize precision casting techniques to create molds and cast metal for jewelry production.
- Maintain a safe and organized workspace while adhering to industry standards and best practices.
- Stay updated on current jewelry trends and techniques to enhance skills and service offerings.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding design options and project timelines.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Jewelsmith or in a related role within the jewelry industry.
- Strong knowledge of jewelry design principles and fabrication techniques.
- Proficiency in working with various precious metals and gemstones.
- Experience with precision tools and equipment used in jewelry making.
- Attention to detail and a strong eye for aesthetics and quality.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., GIA, JCK) are a plus.
- Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and collaboration.
