Job Brief
The Irrigation Equipment Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, adjusting, repairing, and overhauling a variety of farm machinery and vehicles, including tractors, harvesters, dairy equipment, and irrigation systems. Responsibilities
- Diagnose mechanical issues in irrigation equipment and farm machinery to ensure efficient operation.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on tractors, harvesters, and irrigation systems.
- Overhaul and test agricultural equipment to enhance performance and longevity.
- Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to assess machinery conditions and recommend solutions.
- Collaborate with farmers and agricultural managers to understand equipment needs and challenges.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance tasks, and equipment performance.
- Stay updated on the latest irrigation technologies and farming practices to provide expert guidance.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices in equipment handling and repair.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an Irrigation Equipment Mechanic or similar role in agricultural settings.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills specific to farm machinery.
- Familiarity with hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and engine repair.
- Ability to read technical manuals and schematics for various agricultural equipment.
- Valid driver’s license and, in some cases, additional certifications may be required.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise with clients and team members effectively.
- Physical stamina and manual dexterity to perform hands-on repairs and maintenance.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations in agricultural machinery operation.
