Job Brief

As an Installment Loan Collector, you will play a vital role in managing delinquent accounts by effectively communicating with customers via mail, telephone, or in-person visits to solicit timely payments. Your primary responsibilities will include receiving payments, posting amounts to customer accounts, preparing statements for the credit department when necessary, and initiating repossession or service disconnection proceedings. Ideal candidates should have strong negotiation skills, attention to detail, and experience in debt collection processes.

Responsibilities

  • Contact customers with delinquent accounts through various communication methods to facilitate payment resolution.
  • Process payments and accurately post amounts to customer accounts in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and send statements to the credit department for accounts that remain unpaid after initial contact.
  • Initiate repossession proceedings or service disconnection as required for non-responsive accounts.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of collection activities and status updates on accounts to ensure proper follow-up.
  • Develop and implement effective collection strategies to increase recovery rates.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to achieve departmental goals and improve collection processes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant experience in collections or finance preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of debt collection regulations and best practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective customer interactions.
  • Proficient in using collection software and CRM systems for account management.
  • Ability to negotiate and resolve conflicts professionally.
