Job Brief
The Industrial Hygienist is responsible for assessing and managing workplace health risks associated with chemical, physical, biological, and ergonomic factors. This role involves evaluating work environments, designing prevention programs, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, experience in conducting inspections, and the ability to develop effective strategies to prevent workplace injuries and illnesses.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough evaluations of workplace environments to identify potential health hazards.
- Design and implement programs to control, eliminate, or reduce occupational health risks.
- Perform regular inspections and audits to ensure adherence to safety regulations and standards.
- Analyze data related to exposure levels and recommend corrective actions as necessary.
- Collaborate with management and employees to promote a culture of safety and health awareness.
- Provide training and guidance on safety practices and hazardous material handling.
- Prepare detailed reports and documentation of findings and recommendations.
- Stay current with industry regulations, standards, and best practices related to industrial hygiene.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial hygiene, environmental science, or a related field.
- Certification as a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or equivalent is preferred.
- Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in an industrial hygiene or safety role.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and other applicable safety standards.
- Proficiency in using industrial hygiene sampling equipment and analysis methods.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in diverse settings.
- Familiarity with ergonomic assessments and workplace design principles is a plus.
