Job Brief
An Immunohematologist is responsible for performing complex medical laboratory tests that aid in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases related to blood and blood components. This role requires a high level of expertise in immunohematology, including blood typing, cross-matching, and the identification of antibodies. Responsibilities
- Conduct advanced immunohematological tests, including blood typing and antibody identification, to support clinical decision-making.
- Oversee the quality control and assurance processes to ensure the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results.
- Train and supervise laboratory staff in immunohematology procedures and safety protocols.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to interpret test results and provide consultative support.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and laboratory accreditation requirements.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures for immunohematology practices.
- Stay current with advancements in immunohematology and related technologies.
- Participate in research activities and contribute to the publication of findings in relevant scientific journals.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or a related field.
- Valid certification as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) or equivalent credential.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in an immunohematology laboratory setting.
- Proficient in laboratory information systems and data management software.
- Strong knowledge of blood banking regulations and safety standards.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with medical staff.
