Job Brief
As a Home Health Attendant, you will play a vital role in monitoring the health status of individuals with disabilities or illnesses. This position requires providing compassionate care and support with daily living activities, including feeding, bathing, and medication administration. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, a dedication to patient well-being, and the ability to work under the supervision of licensed nursing staff. Experience in home healthcare or a related field is preferred, along with relevant certifications.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and document patients’ health status, including vital signs and overall well-being.
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as feeding, bathing, dressing, and toileting.
- Change bandages, dress wounds, and administer prescribed medications as directed.
- Provide mobility assistance, including ambulation and transfer support.
- Prepare meals and assist with dietary needs based on patient requirements.
- Perform light housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and safe living environment.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers regarding care plans and patient needs.
- Adhere to safety protocols and infection control procedures to ensure patient safety.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications in home health care preferred.
- Previous experience as a Home Health Attendant or in a similar caregiving role.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology and healthcare practices.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact compassionately with patients.
- Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively with nursing staff.
- Physical stamina and ability to assist patients with mobility and personal care tasks.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required.
