Job Brief
The Hoist Operator is responsible for operating or tending hoists and winches to lift and pull loads efficiently and safely using power-operated cable equipment. This role requires a solid understanding of hoisting operations, safety protocols, and the ability to interpret signals and instructions. Ideal candidates will possess relevant experience in heavy equipment operation, strong attention to detail, and excellent communication skills to coordinate with team members on-site.
Responsibilities
- Operate hoists, winches, and related equipment to lift and move various loads according to project requirements.
- Conduct pre-operation inspections of hoisting equipment to ensure safety and functionality.
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines to minimize risks and ensure a safe working environment.
- Communicate effectively with ground crew and other operators using hand signals or communication devices to coordinate movements.
- Monitor load weights and ensure all lifting operations comply with industry standards.
- Maintain accurate logs of hoisting operations and report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns.
- Participate in regular training and safety meetings to stay updated on best practices and industry regulations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications in hoist operation are preferred.
- Proven experience as a Hoist Operator or in a similar role within the construction or manufacturing industry.
- Strong knowledge of hoisting techniques and safety regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, and operational guidelines.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and physical stamina to perform demanding tasks.
- Valid operator’s license and any necessary certifications for hoisting equipment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills for effective collaboration on the job site.
