Job Brief

As a Hockey Scout, you will play a pivotal role in identifying and evaluating potential talent for competitive teams. Your primary responsibilities will include assessing athletes’ skills, strengths, and weaknesses during games and practices, as well as providing coaching and training to enhance their performance. This position demands strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of hockey fundamentals, and the ability to communicate effectively with athletes and coaching staff. A background in competitive hockey or sports management is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate athletes’ performance during games and practices to identify potential recruits.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of players’ skills, strengths, and weaknesses.
  • Provide coaching and instruction on hockey fundamentals and techniques.
  • Attend games, tournaments, and showcases to scout talent across various levels.
  • Collaborate with coaches and team management to discuss recruitment strategies.
  • Compile comprehensive reports on athlete evaluations for recruitment purposes.
  • Monitor player development and suggest improvement strategies to enhance performance.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of hockey trends, rules, and training methodologies.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in scouting, coaching, or playing competitive hockey.
  • Strong knowledge of hockey strategies, player development, and training techniques.
  • Excellent observational and analytical skills to assess player performance.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with athletes, coaches, and management.
  • Ability to travel frequently to attend games and scouting events.
  • Relevant certifications in coaching or sports management are a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
