Job Brief

As a Historical Interpreter, you will engage and educate individuals or groups by escorting them on tours of historical sites, industrial establishments, public buildings, and art galleries. Your primary responsibilities will include delivering informative and entertaining presentations about historical events and cultural significance, ensuring an enriching experience for all participants. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a passion for history, and experience in public speaking or education.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct engaging and informative tours of historical sites and cultural institutions.
  • Research and develop thorough knowledge of historical facts, artifacts, and narratives.
  • Interact with visitors, answering questions and facilitating discussions to enhance the learning experience.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations that maintain visitor interest and promote historical understanding.
  • Collaborate with educational institutions and community organizations for outreach programs.
  • Ensure visitor safety and adherence to site regulations and protocols.
  • Gather visitor feedback to improve tour experiences and educational offerings.
  • Assist in the development of educational materials and resources related to historical interpretation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in History, Education, Museum Studies, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in public speaking, teaching, or historical interpretation.
  • Strong knowledge of local history, cultural heritage, and historical events.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to engage diverse audiences and adapt presentations accordingly.
  • Proficient in using multimedia tools and educational resources for presentations.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • First Aid and CPR certification is a plus.
