Job Brief
As a Histologist Technologist, you will play a crucial role in the medical laboratory by performing complex histological tests vital for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases. This position requires expertise in preparing tissue samples, conducting microscopic analyses, and ensuring compliance with laboratory protocols. Responsibilities
- Prepare and process tissue specimens for microscopic examination using various histological techniques.
- Conduct staining procedures, including hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) staining.
- Perform quality control to ensure accuracy and reliability of laboratory results.
- Analyze and interpret histological data to assist in the diagnosis of diseases.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and troubleshoot issues as necessary.
- Train and supervise junior staff and laboratory technicians to enhance team efficiency.
- Document laboratory procedures and maintain accurate records of test results.
- Stay updated on advancements in histology and laboratory best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Histotechnology, Biology, or a related field.
- Certification as a Histotechnologist (ASCP or equivalent) preferred.
- Proven experience in a clinical or research laboratory environment.
- Strong knowledge of histological techniques, including microtomy and staining methods.
- Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols and quality assurance processes.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in laboratory information systems (LIS) and data management.
