Job Brief
As a Hematology Technician, you will play a crucial role in performing routine medical laboratory tests essential for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases related to blood disorders. You will work under the supervision of a medical technologist, ensuring accuracy and reliability in testing procedures. Responsibilities
- Perform routine hematology tests, including complete blood counts (CBC), blood smears, and coagulation studies.
- Prepare and analyze blood samples, ensuring compliance with safety and quality control standards.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and perform regular maintenance checks to ensure optimal performance.
- Document and report test results accurately and promptly to medical personnel.
- Assist in the development and implementation of laboratory procedures and protocols.
- Adhere to laboratory safety and infection control procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
- Participate in training and mentoring of new staff and students in laboratory practices.
- Stay updated with advancements in hematology techniques and technologies.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree or equivalent in Medical Laboratory Technology, Hematology, or a related field.
- Certification as a Hematology Technician (e.g., ASCP, AMT) is preferred.
- Proficiency in laboratory information systems and data entry.
- Strong understanding of hematological principles and techniques.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with healthcare professionals.
- Prior experience in a clinical laboratory setting is advantageous.
