Job Brief
The Heat Treating Furnace Tender is responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of heat-treating equipment, including furnaces, induction machines, and vacuum equipment. This role requires a keen understanding of thermal processes, quality control, and safety protocols to ensure the effective tempering, hardening, and annealing of metal and plastic objects. Responsibilities
- Set up and operate heat-treating furnaces and related equipment, ensuring proper temperature and timing settings.
- Monitor heating processes to maintain quality standards and adjust parameters as necessary.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on heat-treating machinery to ensure optimal functionality.
- Prepare metal or plastic objects for heat treatment by following prescribed procedures.
- Document all production data, including temperature logs and cycle times, for quality assurance and compliance.
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment to minimize hazards.
- Collaborate with engineering and quality control teams to troubleshoot issues and improve processes.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in metallurgy or heat treatment preferred.
- Proven experience as a Heat Treating Furnace Tender or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of heat treatment processes, including tempering, hardening, and annealing.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in a production setting.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, including work orders and safety manuals.
- Proficient in the use of measuring instruments and monitoring systems.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
