Job Brief
As a Health and Safety Inspector, you will be responsible for reviewing, evaluating, and analyzing work environments to develop and implement effective health and safety programs. Your primary focus will be on controlling, eliminating, and preventing workplace hazards caused by chemical, physical, biological agents, or ergonomic factors. This role requires a keen eye for detail and a strong understanding of health and safety regulations to ensure compliance in both public and private sector environments.
Responsibilities
- Conduct regular inspections of workplaces to assess compliance with health and safety laws and regulations.
- Evaluate work environments to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Develop and implement health and safety programs and procedures to mitigate risks.
- Provide training and guidance to employees on safety practices and regulations.
- Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes and improve future safety measures.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, incidents, and safety training sessions.
- Collaborate with management to promote a culture of health and safety within the organization.
- Stay updated on industry trends and changes in health and safety legislation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience in health and safety inspection or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and standards, including OSHA guidelines.
- Certification as a Health and Safety Inspector or related certifications preferred (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with diverse teams.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in using health and safety software and tools for reporting and documentation.
