Job Brief
We are seeking a skilled Headend Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, setup, and maintenance of switching, distribution, routing, and dialing equipment in central offices or headends. The ideal candidate should possess relevant experience in servicing and repairing telecommunications equipment, including telephone, cable television, and Internet systems. Strong problem-solving abilities and technical expertise are essential for ensuring optimal performance of communication services.
Responsibilities
- Install and configure switching, distribution, routing, and dialing equipment in headend facilities.
- Service and repair telecommunications equipment on customer premises, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Perform regular maintenance and troubleshooting of communication systems, including cable television and Internet services.
- Rearrange and upgrade existing communication infrastructure to improve service quality.
- Document installation and maintenance activities, providing detailed reports for compliance and auditing purposes.
- Collaborate with engineering and operational teams to implement new technologies and solutions.
- Ensure adherence to safety and quality standards during all technical operations.
- Provide excellent customer service and technical support to clients regarding equipment functionality.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Headend Technician or similar role in telecommunications.
- Strong knowledge of switching, routing, and distribution equipment.
- Familiarity with cable television and Internet service technologies.
- Technical certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, CCNA) are preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills with a focus on detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and on-call shifts.
