Job Brief

As a Hazardous Substances Engineer, you will play a critical role in the prevention, control, and remediation of environmental hazards. This position requires a strong background in engineering disciplines to design, research, and implement solutions for waste treatment, site remediation, and pollution control technology. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in environmental engineering, regulatory compliance, and project management, ensuring effective strategies to mitigate hazardous materials and protect public health and the environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct assessments of hazardous waste sites to determine the extent of contamination and develop remediation strategies.
  • Design and implement waste treatment systems and pollution control technologies.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure compliance with environmental regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Perform risk assessments and develop safety protocols for handling hazardous substances.
  • Create detailed engineering plans and reports for environmental remediation projects.
  • Monitor project progress and conduct field inspections to ensure adherence to technical specifications.
  • Provide expert advice on environmental impact assessments and sustainable practices.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and advancements in hazardous waste management technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility for licensure.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in hazardous substances management or environmental engineering.
  • Proficient in environmental regulations, such as RCRA, CERCLA, and OSHA standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Experience with environmental impact assessments and site investigations.
  • Familiarity with GIS software and environmental modeling tools is a plus.
