Job Brief

As a Hard Rock Drill Operator, you will be responsible for operating various types of drilling equipment, including rotary, churn, and pneumatic drills. Your primary focus will be to tap subsurface water and salt deposits, remove core samples during mineral exploration or soil testing, and assist in the deployment of explosives for mining or construction projects. Candidates should possess relevant experience in drilling operations and demonstrate proficiency in operating horizontal and earth boring machines.

Responsibilities

  • Operate rotary, churn, and pneumatic drills to extract core samples and tap subsurface resources.
  • Conduct site assessments to determine drilling locations and methods.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards during drilling operations.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on drilling equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Document drilling activities and maintain accurate records of samples collected.
  • Collaborate with geologists and engineers to interpret geological data and adjust drilling plans as necessary.
  • Assist in the transportation and setup of drilling equipment on site.
  • Monitor drilling progress and make adjustments to techniques as required to achieve project objectives.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant vocational training or certification preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Hard Rock Drill Operator or in a similar drilling role.
  • Familiarity with rotary, churn, and pneumatic drilling equipment.
  • Strong understanding of safety protocols and best practices in drilling operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret geological maps and technical documentation.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various job sites.
