Job Brief
We are seeking a detail-oriented Handwriting Expert to join our investigative team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge in handwriting analysis and forensic science, playing a crucial role in collecting, identifying, and analyzing handwriting evidence related to criminal investigations. The Handwriting Expert will also be responsible for performing expert tests on various documents, providing expert testimony in court, and collaborating with law enforcement agencies to support criminal cases.
Responsibilities
- Collect and examine handwriting samples from various sources to identify and classify evidence.
- Analyze handwriting characteristics and compare them against known samples to establish authenticity or authorship.
- Conduct detailed forensic examinations on documents to detect alterations, forgeries, and other forms of deception.
- Prepare comprehensive reports summarizing findings and methodologies used during analysis.
- Testify as an expert witness in court regarding handwriting analysis and forensic techniques.
- Collaborate with law enforcement and legal professionals to provide insights and support in ongoing investigations.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in forensic handwriting analysis and related technologies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in forensic science, criminology, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Proven experience in handwriting analysis and forensic document examination.
- Strong understanding of forensic methodologies and legal standards in handwriting examination.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, for reporting findings and testifying in court.
- Certifications from recognized forensic organizations (e.g., American Society of Questioned Document Examiners) are a plus.
- Proficient in using forensic analysis software and tools.
