Job Brief
As a Grocery Light Truck Driver, you will be responsible for safely operating a light vehicle to transport groceries and merchandise from distribution centers to various delivery locations. This role requires excellent driving skills, a valid driver’s license, and a commitment to maintaining safety standards while ensuring timely deliveries. Ideal candidates will possess prior experience in truck driving, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage loading and unloading tasks efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Operate a light truck or van for grocery deliveries, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Load and unload merchandise, ensuring proper handling and securing of items to prevent damage.
- Plan and follow efficient delivery routes to maximize productivity and meet delivery schedules.
- Inspect the vehicle before and after trips to ensure it is in good working condition.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs and reports, documenting mileage, delivery times, and any issues encountered.
- Provide excellent customer service while interacting with clients and addressing any delivery-related inquiries.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures, including safety protocols and operational guidelines.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training related to logistics is a plus.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) or appropriate state license for light vehicle operation.
- Proven experience as a delivery driver, preferably in the grocery or food service industry.
- Strong knowledge of local traffic laws and regulations.
- Ability to lift heavy items and perform physical tasks related to loading and unloading.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with customers effectively.
