Job Brief
As a Geophysical Prospector, you will play a crucial role in assisting scientists and engineers with the use of advanced electronic, sonic, and nuclear measuring instruments. Your primary responsibility will include conducting laboratory, exploration, and production activities to gather data indicative of valuable resources such as metallic ores, minerals, gas, coal, and petroleum. A strong background in geophysical methods and data analysis, alongside proficiency in fieldwork, will be essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the operation of electronic, sonic, and nuclear measuring instruments to collect geophysical data.
- Analyze mud samples and drill cuttings to identify potential resource deposits.
- Chart and interpret pressure, temperature, and other geological characteristics of wells or boreholes.
- Collaborate with geoscientists and engineers to design exploration strategies and methods.
- Conduct field surveys and collect geophysical data using various techniques, including seismic and resistivity methods.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of all testing procedures and findings.
- Evaluate geological formations to assess their potential for resource extraction.
- Prepare reports and presentations summarizing data analysis and findings for project stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Geophysics, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience in geophysical prospecting and data analysis.
- Strong understanding of geophysical techniques, including seismic and electromagnetic methods.
- Familiarity with laboratory equipment and instrumentation for field data collection.
- Proficiency in data analysis software and geological modeling tools.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to remote locations for fieldwork.
