Job Brief
The Generating Station Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, testing, repair, and maintenance of electrical equipment in generating stations, substations, and in-service relays. This role requires a proficient understanding of electrical systems, mechanical troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to safety protocols. Responsibilities
- Inspect, test, and maintain electrical equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues in generating station equipment and implement effective repairs.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on generators, transformers, and switchgear.
- Document maintenance activities and report findings to management.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to improve system reliability and efficiency.
- Adhere to safety regulations and protocols while conducting maintenance tasks.
- Respond to equipment failures and emergencies with prompt and effective action.
- Keep abreast of industry trends and advancements in electrical equipment technology.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in electrical or mechanical engineering preferred.
- Proven experience as a mechanic in the power generation or electrical utility industry.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, circuit analysis, and relay logic.
- Ability to read and interpret technical schematics and manuals.
- Familiarity with safety standards and best practices in electrical maintenance.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to work in various environmental conditions.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as needed.
