Job Brief
As a General Educational Development (GED) Teacher, you will be responsible for teaching out-of-school youth and adults in basic education, literacy, or English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, as well as preparing students for high school equivalency assessments. This role requires a passion for adult education and the ability to create engaging lesson plans that address the diverse learning needs of students. Ideal candidates will have experience in adult education and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans tailored to the needs of adult learners.
- Instruct students in fundamental skills, including reading, writing, and mathematics.
- Facilitate English as a Second Language (ESL) classes for non-native speakers.
- Assess student progress through formative and summative evaluations.
- Provide individualized support and mentorship to enhance student learning.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters communication and collaboration.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance.
- Collaborate with other educators and community organizations to promote adult education programs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Adult Education, or a related field.
- Teaching certification or credential in adult education preferred.
- Experience in teaching or tutoring adults, particularly in basic education or GED preparation.
- Strong knowledge of curriculum development and assessment strategies.
- Proficiency in using educational technology and digital tools for teaching.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to diverse learning styles and backgrounds.
