Job Brief
As a General Counsel, you will serve as the chief legal advisor, overseeing all legal matters for the organization. This role involves representing clients in criminal and civil litigation, managing legal transactions, and advising on regulatory compliance. Responsibilities
- Represent clients in criminal and civil litigation, ensuring robust legal defense and advocacy.
- Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents, contracts, and agreements to protect the organization’s interests.
- Advise on corporate governance, compliance issues, and risk management strategies.
- Conduct legal research to stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and legal precedents.
- Collaborate with external counsel and manage relationships with law firms and legal service providers.
- Provide training and guidance on legal best practices to internal stakeholders.
- Facilitate dispute resolution and manage litigation processes effectively.
- Specialize in specific areas of law as needed, such as intellectual property, employment law, or mergers and acquisitions.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active membership in the state bar association.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant legal experience, ideally within a corporate or law firm setting.
- Strong understanding of corporate law, contract law, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent analytical, research, and communication skills.
- Proficient in legal research tools and case management software.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience in dispute resolution.
