Job Brief

As a GCS MK 160 Mod 4 Fire Control Technician, you will be responsible for targeting, firing, and maintaining advanced weapon systems designed to neutralize enemy positions, aircraft, and naval vessels. This role requires a high level of expertise in field artillery and air defense systems, including the operation of artillery crew weapons, missiles, and launch computer systems. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience in weapons maintenance, ammunition management, and communication systems, ensuring optimal performance in ground and air combat operations.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain GCS MK 160 Mod 4 fire control systems for effective targeting and firing of artillery and missile systems.
  • Conduct preventive and routine maintenance on weapons systems, ensuring operational readiness and compliance with safety standards.
  • Test, inspect, and store ammunition, missiles, and torpedoes, adhering to proper safety protocols and storage requirements.
  • Establish and maintain radio and wire communications to facilitate coordination during combat operations.
  • Utilize weapons targeting, firing, and launch computer systems to enhance operational efficiency and precision.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop and implement tactical plans for effective weapon deployment.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior personnel on the operation and maintenance of fire control systems.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; advanced technical training in fire control systems preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Fire Control Technician or in a similar artillery role, with a strong understanding of weapon systems and operations.
  • Technical proficiency in maintaining and troubleshooting GCS MK 160 Mod 4 systems and related artillery equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of ammunition types, storage practices, and safety procedures.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, for clear reporting and coordination.
  • Ability to work under pressure in dynamic combat environments while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Valid security clearance may be required based on operational needs.
