Job Brief
The Gas Compressor Operator is responsible for safely operating and maintaining steam-, gas-, electric motor-, or internal combustion-engine driven compressors to transmit, compress, or recover various gases, including butane, nitrogen, hydrogen, and natural gas. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to adhere to safety protocols. Successful candidates will demonstrate experience in gas compression operations and possess strong problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor gas compressors to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of compressor systems to prevent downtime.
- Maintain accurate records of operational parameters and maintenance activities.
- Conduct safety inspections and ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards.
- Coordinate with engineering and maintenance teams to implement improvements and repairs.
- Respond to alarms and operational irregularities promptly to mitigate risks.
- Train and mentor junior staff on safe operating procedures and best practices.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in mechanical or gas compression is preferred.
- Proven experience as a Gas Compressor Operator or in a similar role within the gas industry.
- Strong knowledge of gas compression systems, equipment, and safety protocols.
- Familiarity with gas properties and handling procedures, including butane, nitrogen, hydrogen, and natural gas.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Valid operator’s license and necessary industry certifications.
