Job Brief
The Galvanizer is responsible for setting up, operating, and tending plating machines that coat metal or plastic products with protective and decorative metal layers, such as chromium, zinc, copper, cadmium, and nickel. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with experience in handling molten metals or electrolytic solutions. Key skills include knowledge of plating processes, equipment operation, safety protocols, and quality control measures.
Responsibilities
- Set up and adjust plating machines to ensure optimal operation and coating quality.
- Operate machinery to immerse products in molten metal or electrolytic solutions.
- Monitor production processes and maintain records of operations, including coating thickness and quality.
- Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting on plating equipment to minimize downtime.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards during the galvanizing process.
- Inspect finished products for defects and make necessary adjustments to the process.
- Collaborate with team members to improve efficiency and effectiveness of galvanizing operations.
- Keep work area organized and maintain cleanliness to promote a safe working environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in plating or metallurgy is a plus.
- Proven experience as a Galvanizer or in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of plating processes, equipment, and safety procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and specifications.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lift heavy materials and work in a physically demanding environment.
- Familiarity with quality control measures and industry standards.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
