Job Brief
As a Furniture Upholsterer, you will be responsible for making, repairing, and replacing upholstery for various household furniture and transportation vehicles. Responsibilities
- Assess furniture condition and determine necessary repairs or replacements of upholstery.
- Measure and cut fabric, foam, and other materials to fit furniture specifications.
- Upholster furniture using various techniques, including sewing, stapling, and tacking.
- Repair and restore damaged furniture, ensuring high-quality craftsmanship.
- Select appropriate materials, colors, and patterns based on customer preferences and design trends.
- Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and provide expert recommendations.
- Keep up-to-date with upholstery trends and techniques to enhance skills and service offerings.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Furniture Upholsterer or similar role.
- Strong understanding of upholstery techniques and materials.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints or design sketches.
- Skilled in sewing and using upholstery tools and equipment.
- Attention to detail and a strong sense of aesthetics.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in upholstery preferred.
- Strong communication skills to interact with clients and team members effectively.
