Job Brief
The Freezer Operator plays a critical role in the food and pharmaceuticals industries, responsible for operating and tending to various cooling and freezing equipment. This position involves ensuring that products such as food items, blood plasma, and chemicals are cooled or frozen effectively to maintain quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate should possess experience in operating freezing units, batch freezers, or refrigeration systems, alongside strong attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor cooling and freezing equipment, including refrigeration units, batch freezers, and freezing tunnels.
- Ensure compliance with safety and health regulations while handling and processing temperature-sensitive products.
- Regularly inspect equipment for proper functioning and perform necessary maintenance and repairs.
- Maintain accurate records of product temperatures and equipment performance to ensure quality control.
- Coordinate with production teams to ensure timely processing and packaging of frozen products.
- Identify and troubleshoot issues with freezing equipment to minimize downtime.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for freezing processes and equipment operation.
- Assist in training new staff on equipment operation and safety practices.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in refrigeration or related field preferred.
- Proven experience as a Freezer Operator or in a similar role within the food processing or pharmaceuticals industry.
- Strong understanding of refrigeration principles and freezing technology.
- Ability to operate and maintain various types of cooling and freezing equipment.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with safety and hygiene standards in a processing environment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle physical demands of the role.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with team members.
