Job Brief
The Foreperson plays a critical role in overseeing and coordinating the activities of construction or extraction workers. This position requires strong leadership skills, extensive experience in the construction or extraction industry, and the ability to effectively manage teams to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. The Foreperson is responsible for maintaining safety standards, managing workflow, and ensuring compliance with all regulations while fostering a productive work environment.
Responsibilities
- Supervise daily operations of construction or extraction projects, ensuring adherence to project plans and timelines.
- Coordinate tasks among team members, delegating responsibilities to optimize performance and efficiency.
- Monitor work quality and safety compliance, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Maintain clear communication with project managers and stakeholders regarding progress and challenges.
- Conduct regular safety meetings and training sessions to promote a culture of safety and awareness among workers.
- Manage inventory and equipment, ensuring all tools and materials are available as needed.
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving on-site issues to minimize downtime and disruptions.
- Document and report project progress, incidents, and worker performance to upper management.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Foreperson or in a supervisory role within the construction or extraction industry.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and safety regulations.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and guide workers.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, for interaction with team members and stakeholders.
- Knowledge of project management principles and practices.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and technical drawings.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA, First Aid/CPR) are preferred.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications for reporting and documentation.
