Job Brief
The Fluid Pump Operator is responsible for tending, controlling, and operating various power-driven pumps and manifold systems to efficiently transfer gases, oil, liquids, slurries, and powdered materials between vessels and processes. This role requires expertise in pump operations, strong attention to safety protocols, and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues. Ideal candidates will have a background in fluid dynamics or mechanical operations, along with a commitment to maintaining optimal performance in fluid transport systems.
Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor stationary and portable pumps to facilitate the transfer of fluids and materials.
- Adjust pump settings and flow rates to meet operational requirements and ensure efficiency.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on pump systems to identify potential issues.
- Maintain accurate records of fluid transfers, pump performance, and maintenance activities.
- Implement safety measures and protocols to prevent spills and accidents during operations.
- Collaborate with team members to optimize fluid handling processes and improve system performance.
- Report any operational discrepancies or equipment malfunctions to management promptly.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in pump operation or related field is preferred.
- Proven experience as a Fluid Pump Operator or in a similar role within the oil and gas or manufacturing sectors.
- Strong understanding of fluid mechanics, pump systems, and manifold operations.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate heavy machinery as required.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in fluid handling.
