Job Brief
The Floor Sander is responsible for preparing and finishing wooden floors to ensure a smooth and polished aesthetic. This role requires proficiency in using floor sanding machines and scrapers, as well as applying various finishes to enhance durability and appearance. Ideal candidates will possess a keen eye for detail, experience in flooring services, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Responsibilities
- Utilize floor sanders and scrapers to remove old finishes and imperfections from wooden floors.
- Assess the condition of floors and determine the appropriate sanding techniques and materials.
- Apply sandpaper of varying grits to achieve desired smoothness and surface preparation.
- Mix and apply finishing coatings to enhance the floor’s appearance and protect against wear.
- Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are met and make necessary adjustments.
- Maintain tools and equipment in optimal working condition through regular cleaning and maintenance.
- Communicate effectively with clients regarding project progress and any issues that arise.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in flooring services is a plus.
- Proven experience in floor sanding and finishing, with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
- Proficiency in using floor sanding machines, scrapers, and related tools.
- Knowledge of various types of wood finishes and their application processes.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
- Ability to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periods.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites.
