Job Brief
The Flat Sorter Operator plays a crucial role in the efficient processing of mail for the United States Postal Service (USPS). Responsibilities
- Prepare incoming and outgoing mail for timely distribution within the USPS network.
- Examine, sort, and accurately route mail using automated sorting equipment.
- Load, operate, and perform minor adjustments and repairs on mail processing machinery.
- Maintain accurate records of shipments, pouches, and sacks to ensure accountability.
- Collaborate with team members to streamline sorting processes and improve efficiency.
- Adhere to safety and operational guidelines while handling mail and equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance on sorting machinery to minimize downtime.
- Assist in training new employees on mail handling procedures and machinery operation.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant experience in mail processing preferred.
- Proficient in operating mail sorting and processing machinery.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently under pressure.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting and repairing equipment.
- Ability to lift and move heavy mail items and stand for extended periods.
- Strong communication skills for effective teamwork and collaboration.
- Familiarity with USPS regulations and mail handling procedures is a plus.
