Job Brief
As a Fish Warden, you will play a crucial role in the conservation and protection of aquatic resources by enforcing fish and game laws within assigned areas. Your responsibilities will include patrolling designated regions, investigating wildlife-related incidents, and compiling essential biological data. This position requires a strong understanding of environmental regulations, excellent observational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with the public and fellow team members.
Responsibilities
- Patrol assigned areas regularly to monitor compliance with fish and game laws.
- Conduct investigations into reports of wildlife-related property damage, including damage to crops.
- Compile and analyze biological data to assess fish populations and ecosystem health.
- Prepare detailed reports on findings and incidents, documenting evidence for potential legal action.
- Educate the public on fish and wildlife conservation practices and regulations.
- Collaborate with local law enforcement and environmental agencies to address violations and promote conservation efforts.
- Respond to emergencies and assist in the rescue of injured wildlife as needed.
- Maintain records of inspections, incidents, and enforcement actions taken.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in wildlife management, environmental science, or a related field is preferred.
- Prior experience in law enforcement, wildlife management, or environmental conservation is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of fish and game laws, regulations, and conservation practices.
- Strong observational and analytical skills to effectively monitor and assess wildlife conditions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with the public and stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in various outdoor environments.
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to operate a vehicle in remote areas.
- Certification in first aid and CPR is a plus.
