Job Brief
We are seeking a skilled Fiber Optic Central Office Installer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, setup, and maintenance of switching, distribution, routing, and dialing equipment within central offices or headends. The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in telecommunications, with hands-on experience in servicing various communication systems including telephone, cable television, and Internet services. Key skills include proficiency in fiber optic technology, problem-solving abilities, and strong attention to detail.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain fiber optic communication equipment in central office environments.
- Perform service and repair tasks on telephone, cable television, and Internet communication systems.
- Execute rearrangement or removal of switching and routing equipment as necessary.
- Install communications wiring in commercial and residential buildings.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations during installations and repairs.
- Conduct routine inspections to identify and troubleshoot issues in communication equipment.
- Document installation and maintenance activities accurately for reporting and compliance purposes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance service delivery and customer satisfaction.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications in telecommunications preferred.
- Proven experience as a Fiber Optic Installer or similar role in the telecommunications industry.
- Strong understanding of fiber optic technology and communication systems.
- Familiarity with testing equipment and tools used in fiber optic installations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
- Physical stamina to perform tasks in various environments and weather conditions.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to job sites as needed.
