Job Brief

As a Ferry Engineer, you will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of the crew engaged in the operation and maintenance of engines, boilers, deck machinery, and electrical, sanitary, and refrigeration equipment aboard the vessel. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to safety and efficiency in maritime operations. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience with marine engineering systems and a passion for ensuring seamless vessel performance.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the operation and maintenance of engines, boilers, and auxiliary machinery aboard the ferry.
  • Coordinate daily activities of engineering crew to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Conduct regular inspections and troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Implement preventive maintenance programs to enhance equipment reliability and performance.
  • Ensure compliance with maritime safety and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment performance.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to engineering staff and crew members.
  • Respond to emergencies and develop strategies for effective crisis management.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Ferry Engineer or in a similar marine engineering role.
  • Strong knowledge of marine engineering systems, including engines, boilers, and electrical equipment.
  • Relevant certifications such as STCW, Marine Engineering License, or equivalent.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively manage a diverse crew.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in maritime operations.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
