Job Brief
The Feller Buncher Operator is responsible for efficiently operating specialized logging machinery to fell trees, skid logs, and perform site clearing tasks. Responsibilities
- Operate feller bunchers and other logging machinery to fell trees and perform site clearing.
- Skid, load, and unload logs safely and efficiently.
- Utilize attachments such as bulldozer blades, grapples, and winches for enhanced operational capabilities.
- Conduct routine maintenance checks on equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Follow safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate logging operations and site management.
- Monitor and assess the condition of equipment and report any malfunctions or necessary repairs.
- Assist in stump removal and brush clearing as needed to prepare sites for future logging activities.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant vocational training is a plus.
- Proven experience operating heavy logging equipment, specifically feller bunchers.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) may be required for certain operations.
- Strong knowledge of forestry practices and equipment safety standards.
- Ability to work in challenging outdoor environments and adverse weather conditions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented setting.
- Certification in heavy equipment operation is preferred.
