Job Brief

The Engineering Writer is responsible for creating high-quality technical documentation that includes equipment manuals, operational guidelines, and maintenance instructions. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong background in engineering or technical writing, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear and user-friendly documentation. The ideal candidate will possess experience in layout work and will collaborate with engineering teams to ensure accuracy and clarity in all written materials.

Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive technical documentation, including equipment manuals, operating procedures, and maintenance instructions.
  • Collaborate with engineers and technical experts to gather information and ensure content accuracy.
  • Create and maintain a consistent documentation style and format across all technical materials.
  • Review and edit existing documentation to improve clarity, usability, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Assist in layout work to enhance the presentation and readability of technical documents.
  • Utilize content management systems and authoring tools to streamline documentation processes.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in technical writing and documentation.
  • Ensure all documentation meets regulatory compliance and quality assurance standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technical Communication, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a technical writer or engineering writer, preferably in a technical or engineering environment.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles and terminology.
  • Proficient in using technical writing software and tools, such as MadCap Flare, Adobe FrameMaker, or Microsoft Word.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to meet project deadlines.
  • Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and version control systems.
