Job Brief
The Engine Lathe Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and tending lathe and turning machines to accurately process metal or plastic materials, including wire, rod, and bar stock. Ideal candidates will possess experience in machining and will demonstrate proficiency in interpreting technical drawings and specifications. Responsibilities
- Set up and calibrate lathe and turning machines according to specifications.
- Operate lathe machines to turn, bore, thread, form, and face various materials.
- Monitor machine operations to maintain optimal production levels and quality.
- Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools to ensure adherence to specifications.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on lathe equipment.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with safety regulations.
- Document production data and machine performance metrics for quality assurance.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize machining processes.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training in machining preferred.
- Proven experience as an Engine Lathe Operator or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and schematics.
- Strong understanding of lathe operation, tooling, and machining processes.
- Experience with precision measuring instruments, such as calipers and micrometers.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and proper handling of machinery.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
